There was snow this morning, the first for 2 years.
Children were out playing on the way to school and on the way home, hope it snows on Saturday for the.
The local cats are ganging up the birds who are coming into the garden in the cold weather.Cats are programmed to chase anything that moves, birds squirrels, mice are all fair game.
I sometimes have to take my London based my grandchildren to and from school. The streets are packed in the mornings with traffic, the red double decker buses and the black cabs go at quite a speed. The crossing wardens who escort the children over the road take their lives in their hands every day as they march out into the road to stop the traffic and see the children (and a granny) safely across. to the other side.
The grey winter skies of London are interesting to paint, the reflections on the wet paving and touches of red from buses and umbrellas make attractive contrasts.
Tower Bridge is an iconic symbol of London. Built in Victorian times it spans the river close by the Tower of London and is heavily used by traffic moving from the north to the south banks of the River Thames. I like this slow passage as it gives me time to look at the views of the river , especially attractive on the grey misty mornings of winter. The centre of the bridge opens and draws up to let the occasional tall ship pass underneath, always an exciting moment for the many tourists who throng to see this bridge.
