St Valentine's day is on 14th February and the flower shops are displaying red roses .
A gift of red  roses is always a romantic gesture.

SPRING COLOUR,ANEMONES, PRIMROSES and BLUEBELLS

Some of my favourite spring flowers are anemones .I love their bright colours and bold thick stems.They always look good in a very plain pot or glass tankard.

It is still too cold for primroses outside but a few planted in a terracotta pot will last well indoors in a cool place.

SNOWDROPS

Snowdrops are pushing through the cold earth and coming out in sheltered spots beneath the trees.
There was a time when it was possible to buy bunches of them from market flower sellers but this is not the case any more, I have no idea why.
They are one of my favourite flowers ,their appearance heralding a promise of spring.

SPRING FLOWERS

A mild early January has brought spring flowers unseasonally forward. Daffodils like these are on sale in the shops for 99p.Tulips were about £2 in Aldi this morning.
Uplifting especially now the weather has turned very cold with sub zero temperatures.
