The summer term has begun,children are dragged unwillingly back to school in their uniforms.

I always enjoy the countryside at this time of the year. The colours are fresh and bright and a new dimension has been added in recent years with the addition of the bright yellow rapeseed crop.Travelling by train or road the fields of new born lambs and fresh green and yellow crops look new and bright.

London in the Spring

The warmer weather has encouraged visitors and residents to spend some time outside.

The restaurants and bars  on the Southbank are opening their outside seats where wonderful views of Westminster and the City can be seen in the evening light.



The London Marathon is an exciting event for participants and their supporters.The route takes runners over the iconic Tower Bridge

A Day at the Races

There is nothing like the excitement of a race meeting.The fun of betting,the sound of the horses thundering past and the characters who attend these events make great scenes for paintings. My grandmother owned a bookmakers premises next door to her corner shop in Northampton. She would totter round in her slippers and place bets for me--I was too young- she was quite an expert on form--I often had extra pocket money.

Paris and Springtime

Looking through holiday advertisements in the Sunday papers reminded me of photographs I had taken the last time I was in Paris France, one of my favourite cities  so I have turned them into a painting.
The Cafe Alma does exist , they specialize in sea food, a little expensive but delicious and full of Parisian charm and atmosphere with good views of the Eiffel tower.

Dog Talk

Some pubs in the U.K. still allow dogs into the bar where owners can be seen fixing deals.
