LONDON EVENTS

The autumn usually heralds new exhibitions and events in London.I plan to see the Rembrandt exhibition at the National Gallery and the  Egon Schiele at the Somerset House.

LONDON, changing seasons

After a long hot summer and a month spent in the USA it is refreshing to have some cool autumn weather.

 South Bank , London is a good place to visit on warm days and evenings. The views across the river are lovely.  A ride on The London Eye is a must and there are plenty of bars and cafes for a drink or a meal .

SEA MIST

Hot weather often produces a sea mist in the mornings, sometimes called fret or harr on the east coast.Lovely to watch it clear as the sun comes out and reveals what is going on on the ocean.

OUR STREET,the games we played

The weather is hot and I am reminded of how we used to play in the street when we were children.Not an option in many streets today,too much traffic .

Street football and cricket, ring-a roses,hopscotch,marbles,leap frog and many more games were played with the better off kids owning scooters and bicycles. A visit to the corner shop for a ice cream cornet or a bottle of Irn-Bru were treats during the long summer holidays.
Innovative kids would make go-carts with bits from old prams and baby buggies.

Tea for Two

Collage works well with acrylics and I have used a print from a Victorian painting with  photographs that I have taken and combined them with acrylic paint for a painting with a modern look.

Royal Ascot and the English Summer.

The temperature is getting hotter.

The English social season has begun with the Chelsea Flower Show.
Who can resist a bouquet of fresh, perfumed red roses.?

Royal Ascot Race Meeting begins on 17th June 2014, usually attended by the Queen.
A strict dress code applies if you are going to be in the Royal Enclosure.Top hats and morning dress for gentlemen, hats, gloves and dresses that cover shoulders and knees should worn by the ladies.
